Final Days in Ottawa

We are quickly approaching our departure date and everything seems to be moving as if on an old film video tape. The days are drifting by filled with last minute details and the reality of not being in our home surrounded by a community of amazing neighbours and friends is only vaguely setting in. I guess that's why everyone says there will be a transition and culture shock... right now we are in the frenzy of preparations; then we will move into the excitement of a new society; and slowly the magnitude of this adventure will begin to set into our consciousness.
In the meantime, the last couple of months have been filled with spending as much time with friends and family as possible; renovating our front porch; painting our house (thanks Jay-Jay!!!); dealing with the bureaucracy of building permits (that will be a story for a future entry); wrapping up work projects; creating an inventory of all our stuff and purging as much as possible; and so on... The last week we had a little birthday party for Isabel -- as we will be in Colombia when she turns 2 we wanted to celebrate here.
Now, back to work... there will be more to share once we arrive.
