magic catching raindrops

There is something about little kids that makes us present in what we do... that makes us see the magic in the ordinary... that inspires us to enjoy catching raindrops and splashing in puddles as if it was for the very first time.

Isabel is off school this week... a mandatory Colombian holiday that is meant to encourage tourism. For us, it is encouraging a fabulous time together. And given that this is 'rainy season'... it means we are getting wet and loving it!!!

  1. There's a "rainy season" in Bogota?? That kind of implies a season *without* rain...!

A couple days ago, I was checking the weather online and 'bout had a heart attack when I saw the dismal forecast. Not just rain, but what looked like a HUGE storm that would just SIT OVER us and not move. 50 mm of rain one day, two days of 35-45mms, another 50+ day, then two 10+ mm days to round out the abysmal week. 90-100% chance of rain EVERY DAY for the whole week!

I called my friend to invite her over to play in the sun before it all hit... I called Peter to ask if he'd seen what was coming our way... I passed the bad news on to a few other friends I talked to that day...

Then I realized that our Weather Network page settings were still set to Bogota! IT WAS YOUR WEATHER, NOT OURS!! I had a good laugh at myself (as did my friends when I called to admit my mistake), but feel awfully bad for you all down there!!

Good thing you have such sunny little faces around you all the time, eh?
